Ethnology Museu of Southern Angola
Designed to host the ethnographic heritage collection of the southern provinces of Angola, namely Huíla, Namibe, Kunene and Kuando Kubango, the Ethnology Museum project responds to an ambitious cultural program where spaces are provided to house a permanent collection, temporary exhibitions, workshops and still shows/conferences. It also has a small museum shop, a restaurant, spaces for restoration and conservation of the assets and administrative areas.
Located near the center of Lubango, on one of the slopes facing the Mucufi River, the museum connects to two different levels: a lower level, closer to the river where the museum’s green spaces are located, and the main entrance is located; and a higher level where employees and the museum’s technical areas are accessed.
The project is part of a broader action to rehabilitate the watercourses and surroundings of the center of Lubango, which includes the Detailed Plan for Bairro Agostinho Neto and the project for a new building for the provincial directorates of Huíla.
