Municipal Master Plan of Kuimba
Kuimba is an interior municipality in Zaire province, in the northwest of Angola, and consequently the least relevant in economic and population terms, despite locating the provincial government in the city of M’Banza Congo, the former capital of the Kingdom of Congo. Given the growing importance of the province in the national oil sector and the multiple investments in infrastructures in the province, a significant growth is expected in the municipality for the next decade.
Building on National and Provincial policies for the region The Municipal General Plan defines the medium-long term development strategy for Kuimba, from which emerged the following objectives:
– Define a spatial organization model for the municipality and main agglomerates.
– Correction of regional asymmetries promoting a greater coverage of transport networks and coverage of public facilities.
– Define land use and occupation measures, adjusted to the local context, namely prevent dispersed occupation for housing or other non-rural activities.
– Define measures for adequate agricultural and forestry planning as well as for safeguarding the landscape and protected areas.
– Identify and prioritize the actions and investments necessary to implement the plan´s objectives.
