Figueira da Foz faces similar challenges to other coastal towns that have high demand from turists in summer time. 

The competition aimed to gather ideas for the regeneration of the city center of Figueira da Foz – the Bairro Novo – namely to mitigate the effects of seasonality, and to promote a diversified and continuous occupation.

The ideas presented focus the intervention in different areas like: Improvement of public spaces and pedestrian ways; heritage preservation and reuse; discourage car circulation in the main commercial streets; increasing public transportation options and parking solution in the surrounding areas.
