The urban growth of Waku Kungo has significantly intensified in the last decade, driven by peace, the country’s economic development and the reactivation of the Cela settlements, which increased agricultural and livestock production, in parallel to the improvement of road and social infrastructures.

The need to improve consolidated areas, the regeneration of existing illegal settlements, improve and expand existing infrastructures, and planning future expansion, in parallel to the protection of environmental assets were among the priorities for the General Land Use Plan of Waku Kungo.
